Healthy Eating Lifestyele Program(HELP)


The Healthy Eating Lifestyle Program (HELP) is a division of Community Outreach. Our goal is to help the community make healthier food choices and become physically active for life. The programs at HELP are grant-funded, and therefore, are FREE of charge to the community.

HELP Children
This program is for families with children ages 5 and older who are at the 85th percentile BMI (Body Mass Index) for age or higher, meaning the children are at-risk of being overweight or are already overwieght. the 5-session workshop includes topics on basic nutrition, making healthier food choices, smart shopping, reading food labels, fast-food and dining out, and physical activity. We also provide a follow-up 6 session along with ongoing-phone support and support groups.

HELP Adults
This program is for adults who are at-risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes and/or heart disease. The 5-session workshop includes topics on making healthier food choices, breakfast and a healthy pantry, food label reading, heart health, and exercise. We also provide a follow-up session and ongoing support groups.

HELP Diabetes
This program is for adults who have diabetes or for adults who have a family member with diabetes. The 5-session workshop includes topics on making healthier food choices, food label reading, diabetes testing, diabetes complications, and carbohydrate counting. We also provide a follow-up session and ongoing support groups.
